For many families in Gujarat, Vastu is not optional. It shapes which flat in a tower they will consider at all. The good news is that the most commonly checked points can be read straight off a floor plan, before you visit.
The points buyers ask about most
- Main entrance: east and north facing entrances are traditionally preferred.
- Kitchen: the south-east corner is considered ideal for the cooking area.
- Master bedroom: the south-west zone is traditionally recommended.
- Pooja room: north-east is the preferred corner.
- Toilets: ideally away from the north-east.
Reading a floor plan
Find the north arrow on the plan first. Many brochures rotate plans for layout, so the top of the page is not always north. Then divide the flat into a three-by-three grid and note which rooms fall in which zone.
